Junior Women's Criterium Preview |
|
|
|
|
|
After a time trial and hard road
race the sprinters will get a chance in the criterium. Macey
Stewart, Anna Leeza-Hull and Alex Manly have dominated the
past two days will they lock out the podium again?
The Route
The 1.2km The Stephen Hodge Criterium Circuit has two small
rises 220m at 2.1% from the start and 210m at 1.8% around 1km
in to the circuit.
The Contenders
Alex Manly
The Defending Champion has two medals already this week,
Bronze from the Time Trial and Silver in the Road Race. If she
is able to continue that pattern will hope to pick up Gold
here. Wasn't able to quite out sprint Stewart in the Road Race
and with a number of other strong finishers will have to
rethink.
Macey Stewart
Stewart has been on dominant form this weekend, took 2nd in
the Time Trial and won the Road Race. The current Points Race
Champion on the track has a fast finish. Was third last year
behind Alex Manly and Josie Talbot and will have to beat both
if she wants to make it two wins in two days
Anna Leeza-Hull
Her form is good with a Gold and Bronze the past two days. A
very strong climber and time trialist but not the fastest
sprinter and up against a field of mostly track riders will
need to be inventive.
Josie Talbot
Talbot took Silver last year and was 5th in the TT and 6th in
the Road Race. In the middle of preparation for Junior Track
Worlds and if there was an event she was going to win the
criterium would be it. Packs a fast finish that saw her take
the Scratch Race at Track Nationals.
Other names to watch: Dani McKinniery and Lauren Perry.
