Edmondson as she chases her third title. Manly will partner
with junior Chloe Moran who finished third last year.
In an Olympic year just a week after the Track World
Championships former winners Ashlee Ankudinoff and Bella King

The Contenders
Annette Edmondson & Jessica Mundy
The duo of Edmondson and Mundy have become the Queen's of the
discipline with two Australian titles and Mundy has also
claimed two Bendigo Madison titles with Bella King in 2014 and
Alex Manly in 2015. While Edmondson will be hoping to add the
Bendigo title to her ever growing palmares
Edmondson claimed gold at the Australian Madison Championships
in December with Julie Leth as Mundy was a late withdrawal
with illness and will be looking to get back on top.
Mundy has good form following the Oceania Championships last
weekend where she finished second in the road race. Edmondson
comes in from the Track World Championships where despite bit
hit by a car three weeks ago finished an impressive fifth in
the omnium. Both a very strong in the sprint and can take a
lap. Will be very difficult to beat.
Alex Manly & Chloe Moran
Manly comes in as the defending champion after racing with
Jessica Mundy last year. This year Manly teams up with Chloe
Moran who is still a junior but finished third here last year.
Both are incredibly stronger pursuiters but also pack a very
quick finish.
Moran claimed the under 19 Oceania road race title last
weekend off and strong Track National Championships where she
claimed bronze in the points race. Manly has been dealing with
a back injury and missed the Madison at the National
Championships.
Both have a strong pedigree in the discipline and will be a
very dangerous combination. It will be a hard ask to beat the
combination of Edmondson and Mundy but will be strong
contenders.
Brooke Tucker & Quinn Cramer
The bronze medallists from the Australian Championships in
December will be looking to find the podium. A mix of youth
and experience with Brooke Tucker one of Australia's top
juniors and a silver medallist in the team pursuit at the
Junior World Championships last year. Cramer brings experience
to the combination and is a multiple medallist at the
Australian Championships.
After producing a strong ride at the Australian Championships
they will be one of the three big contenders for the podium.
Tucker packs a very quick sprint while Cramer brings another
strong finish but more importantly experience.
Tayla Evans & Lauretta Hanson
Can Evans and Hanson sprint a surprise and upset the three
better known teams and take a spot on the podium. The duo
finished sixth at the Australian National Championships
picking up just a single point and will need to improve on
that here.
Last year Evans partnered with British star Hayley Jones to
finish fourth here just falling seven points short of the
podium. A strong team but come up against three very strong
teams with more experience.
Other teams to watch: Imogen Jelbart & Marquessa Jelbart and
Alissa Maglaty and Maeve Moroney-Plouffe. |
