Experienced professional Lauren Kitchen will lead a youthful
UniSA-Australia team at the 2019 Santos Women's Tour Down
Under, January 10-13.
Kitchen who raced with the national team in 2018, helping
Katrin Garfoot to the overall victory will be joined by
multiple Australian under 23 champion Emily Roper, dual track
world champion Rebecca Wiasak and track and US criterium star
Josie Talbot. Completing the team is former World Championship
silver medallist Rachel Neylan.
"I like working with the younger riders and trying to get the
most out of them," said Kitchen.
"I think I have progressed in this area professionally in the
last few years with my FDJ team, so I look forward to the
opportunity with UniSA-Australia for the Santos TDU.
Cycling Australia's High Performance Director Simon Jones was
pleased with the makeup of the squad and the opportunity for
some of Australia's brightest road prospects to develop under
two experienced professionals.
"These teams support the ongoing development of athletes
within the Cycling Australia performance pathway," Jones
explains.
"We know that the route to being a world class road rider
takes time, persistence and patience. Our framework for future
success supports athletes and teams and this selection process
supports our overall performance strategy."
